Pm Modi Condoles Death Of Former Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev

Gorbachev passed on at a clinic in Moscow on Tuesday at 91 years old after a “serious and delayed sickness”, as per the Russian media.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday mourned the downfall of previous Soviet pioneer Mikhail S Gorbachev, and said he was one of the main legislators of the twentieth century who made a permanent imprint on the course of history.

Gorbachev passed on at an emergency clinic in Moscow on Tuesday at 91 years old after a “serious and delayed disease”, as per the Russian media. His passing provoked an incredible flood of sympathies and recognitions from pioneers across the world.

I stretch out our most profound sympathies to the loved ones of H.E. Mr. Mikhail Gorbachev, one of the main legislators of the twentieth century who made a permanent imprint on the course of history,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

Gorbachev was the head of the Soviet Union from 1985 until its breakdown in 1991. He visited India in 1986 as well as in 1988.

Gorbachev was granted the Nobel harmony prize for arranging a noteworthy atomic arms settlement with the then United States President Ronald Reagan.
