“In exercise of the powers vested in me as the Shivsena Paksha Pramukha, I eliminate you from the post of Shivsena Leader in the party association,” the letter endorsed by Uddhav Thackeray said.
While Mr Shinde has guaranteed that he is the head of Shiv Sena, he never called himself Paksha Pramukh (party boss). Mr Thackeray is in fact still the party boss.
The Shinde group has pronounced in the Supreme Court that they are the genuine Shiv Sena. The renegades contend that Mr Thackeray has weakened the Hindutva philosophy of his dad Bal Thackeray by shaping an alliance with Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Congress rather than “normal partner” BJP.
